DEAD KENNEDYS: 'Fresh Fruit' Reissue To Include Bonus DVD Documentary
September 16, 2005Billboard.com is reporting that the DEAD KENNEDYS' 1980 punk rock classic "Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables" will be reissued Oct. 25 in a 25th anniversary edition by Manifesto Records with a bonus DVD documentary. A new single-disc version of the band's debut album without the DVD will also be released on the same day.
The DVD will include what the label claims is the earliest known live footage of DEAD KENNEDYS performing, as well as new interviews with East Bay Ray and bassist Klaus Flouride (who continue to tour with a version of the band),and others, including Chi Chi, the band's first manager and "Fresh Fruit" engineer Oliver DiCicco. According to a statement, estranged lead singer Jello Biafra "was asked to participate and chose not to."
